MUSCAT : Wadi Al-Saq, located in the village of Misfat Al-Abriyyin in the Wilayat of Al-Hamra in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate, is a valley dotted with unique geological formations and replete with natural treasure. The Saq Valley is a deep groove in the heart of the tall mountains, where fresh water springs flow from its edges, forming lakes that nurture its unique plant diversity, including the “Al-Mais” tree with fragrant flowers and some other wild plants.

However, along with nature lovers, Wadi Al-Saq has found a place in the heart of adventure enthusiasts and mountain climbers, who flock to this beautiful valley throughout the year. Mahmoud bin Nasser Al-Fahdi, a tour guide accredited by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said: “The valley attracts a number of amateurs and lovers of mountain walking and adventure, as a number of residents and volunteers protected the paths and rocky edges in the valley to facilitate the process of entering it, and added some iron chains that facilitate the crossing process.” for the visitor, with an extensive exploratory guide.

He added, in a statement to the Omani News Agency, that “the valley can be reached through the town of Misfat al-Abriyeen, and a path is followed towards the north, where the valley’s course narrows in many locations to the farms area.

However, the significance of this valley goes beyond tourism. Abd al-Rahman bin Saleh al-Abri, a resident of the town of Misfat al-Abriyyin in the Wilayat of al-Hamra, explained that Wadi al-Saq (the farms) is considered one of the important valleys for the residents of the Wilayat of al-Hamra. It is locally called “Al-Maqatir”, and there are a number of kirans in it (plural kur), which is a large rocky cavity that can preserve water for a long time.
