MUSCAT : The Snake Canyon,  also called Wadi Bimah, is situated in the Western Hajar Mountains in the Wilayat of Rustaq. Called so because of the shape this gorge takes, simply boating along the “Snake Canyon” should be enough to quench your thirst for adventure, although the valley also offers a number of activities, like hiking, swimming, and bungee jumping, among many others.

A decade ago, there was not much information about the valley, and most of the information about it often revolved around the danger this location poses due to flash floods. But if caution is exercised, there is no reason to deprive yourself of this gem hidden in the mountains. With very little sunlight reaching the bottom of the gorge, the place is rather cold, even in summer. The length of the valley is about 3 kilometres, and it takes 2 to 6 hours to pass. Passing through this equally humbling and breathtaking gorge, one is bound to get goosebumps!

Tourists can reach the Snake Canyon through the Wadi Bani Awf crossing, either from the Al Batinah Governorate or from the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
