MUSCAT: National Cricket team of Oman has got an invite from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to play in India but Oman Cricket (OC), according to Indian media

Mumbai Mirror reported that the BCCI is planning a quadrangular One-Day tournament in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala,  involving India Under-19 teams in February-March for which the senior Oman team has been invited.

Mumbai Mirror also has reported that in view of the presence of some Pakistani origin players in the Oman team, visas would be an issue.
Quoting an official, Mirror reported that they are waiting for visas to arrive.

The development comes close on the heels of trouble in coming to India for a Pakistan-origin England Lions player Saqib Mahmood for the ongoing bilateral U-19 matches in Trivandrum for the same reason.

He was eventually withdrawn from the Lions squad.

If Oman fail to turn up, the BCCI may extend the invite to Afghanistan U-19 team.

The other three sides will be South Africa U-19 and two India sides – India U-19 A and India U-19 B. The Oman team, also including a few India-origin players, is coached by former Sir Lanka captain Duleep Mendis.

The quadrangular will be preceded by two four-day matches between India U-19 and South Africa U-19, also in Trivandrum.
