Global Money Exchange now at Salalah international airport

Muscat: Global Money Exchange Company LLC (GMEC) formally inaugurated three new branches in Salalah International Airport in a grand function held on 25th September 2023. The opening of these branches with world class services will support international tourism in Salalah. With this GMEC has 10 branches in the Dhofar Governorate, the highest among all the Exchange Houses in the region.

GMEC, managed by State Bank of India, was established in the year 2002 and is currently the No.1 Exchange Company in Oman with branches across the length and breadth of the Sultanate.

GMEC is known for the best rates and fastest remittance services. GMEC has direct banking arrangements with more than 35 banks in several countries. The services of popular International Money Transfer agents are also available. “Global Freedom” our online transfer facility is widely accepted by customers. The Company is planning to launch a new mobile application with more features in place of the existing mobile app.

The branches of GMEC deal in all major currencies of the world. GMEC has a Wholesale Currency Division and hence currencies are bought and sold at competitive rates.

GMEC is the only exchange company in Oman facilitating the renewal and issuance of Indian Passports through designated branches. Attestation Services, on behalf of Embassy of India, Muscat is also available at select branches of GMEC. Thousands of Indian expatriates have benefitted out of this service since 2018.

Registration and periodical subscription payments to the Kerala Pravasi Welfare Fund is another exclusive facility being offered through all our branches. 

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, we have opened branches in the Oman Exhibition and Convention Centre (OCEC) and at Port Sultan Qaboos (PSQ) at Muttrah to meet the foreign currency requirements of tourists visiting Oman. We are the only Exchange Company having presence in airports and seaport in Oman.

GMEC provides maximum employment opportunities to locals. We impart training to the local staff in various areas including leadership programs with a view to equipping them to take on higher responsibilities in the near future.

DIGITAL INITIATIVES

Mr. K.S. Subromoniyan, Managing Director, informed that going forward, GMEC aims to give top priority to the digital front, which is in tune with the Vision 2040 of the Government of Oman as well as various digital initiatives of Central Bank of Oman.  The officials thanked all the stakeholders of GMEC for their trust and confidence without which the Company would not have become the No.1 and the most preferred Exchange House of the country.
