His Majesty intensifies efforts with world leaders to contain Gaza conflict: Sayyid Shihab

In his address at the Cairo Peace Summit, His Highness Sayyid Shihab urged the implementation of provisions of UN resolutions pertaining to the Palestinian Cause, including the establishment of the Palestinian State.

MUSCAT: Oman has categorically rejected the Israeli military escalation in Gaza and has called for a comprehensive plan to being peace in the region, according to His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs.

Speaking at the Cairo Peace Summit on Saturday, Sayyid Shihab said the international community is responsible for stopping this war. “The government of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has paid attention to supporting regional and international efforts and ensuring an immediate stop to the bloodshed, protecting civilians and working to ensure the arrival of humanitarian aid, urgent medical relief and food to those affected,” he said.

He also urged the implementation of provisions of UN resolutions pertaining to the Palestinian Cause, including the establishment of the Palestinian State on the 1967 borders.

The summit, which is called by Egypt’s President Abdelfattah El Sisi, aims to de-escalate the violence in Gaza, help reach a ceasefire and arrive at a solution for the Palestinian issue.
