MUSCAT : Oman is a beach lover’s paradise, perched on the tip of the Arabian peninsula where the infinite desert meets the crystal-clear ocean.

The crowded beaches that surround coastal cities are popular, but there are also secret bays and desolate dunes to explore, where you might perhaps see a turtle or two. If you’re the adventurous type, Oman is home to some of the most breathtaking diving and snorkelling locations in the area. Kiteboarding, surfing, kayaking, and fishing are also available here, in addition to other popular watersports.

The Sultanate of Oman is characterised by stunning beaches, on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula, a recent report published by Conde Nast Traveller Middle East stated.

One of the most important beaches is the Ras al-Jinz Turtle Beach, which is located in the Ras al-Jinz Turtle Reserve about three hours drive from the capital, Muscat. Opt for the night trip which starts every evening at 9 pm to catch a glimpse of the cute turtles, as they don’t come to the shore during the day. Avoid using a flash or being too loud for the best experience for everyone – you and the turtles. These endangered turtles seek refuge on this spotless beach, so tourists should simply enjoy it without interfering.

Al Bustan Beach, part of the Ritz-Carlton Al Bustan Palace, is surrounded by the hotel’s lush green gardens, swimming pools, and a small fishing village. Visitors can go snorkelling, kayaking, sailing, or even go on scuba diving trips in the Sea of Oman. The beach is ideal for a relaxing holiday, and offers wonderful views of the surrounding mountain range.

If you’re looking for clear blue waters, green mountains and natural fountains, then Al Mughsail Beach in Salalah is ideal for you. On a stormy day, when the tides are high and the waves are rough, is when you may see the blowhole on its shores. The beach is one of the most visited destinations in Oman’s Dhofar Governorate and an excellent place for a picnic.

One of the most picturesque ports in the world, Khasab is located on the border between the UAE and Oman. You may observe dolphins playing in the sea here, or you can even dive into the ocean to go snorkelling or take a local guide on a tour of the neighbourhood. Enjoy the magnificence of the fjords and the incredible blue-green of the ocean.

Feeling that tiredness looming over the head, making it difficult to keep track of time? A trip to the beach is exactly what the doctor has ordered for washing away your week’s worry. Think no more, grab your beach bag already!
