Mountains, mountains and more mountains and Al Hajar come first to mind.

It is green! Which other mountains have you been and have indulged in recent memory.

It’s about green mountains?

It is Jabal Akhdar (The Green Mountain) part of the Al Hajar mountain range, the Sultanate’s proud peak that received sporadic rains last month.

Wander, walk, climb, trek, swim, smell the fresh air, pump-up and invigorate.

It will be the sum up of the trip to the mountains.

There are no chances for any complaints.   You can sit, relax, and meditate.

The time you spent on the mountains will give you an unexpected extension!

It’s pleasantly cool these days at Jabal Akhdar.

You can challenge your skills as you climb the mountain routes wearing the safety equipment.

When you climb the steep rock near the Saiq Plateau, overlooking Wadi Al Kawr, the challenge is not only over you but feels triumphant.

You will be pleasantly surprised to know that Jabal Akhdar grow variety of fruits – pomegranates, grapes, strawberries, raspberries, pears, apricots, plums, peaches, figs and so on.

You see and feel the fertile agricultural land and become a wanderer.

This is the best time to indulge in such small things.

You have heard, felt and smelt a variety of roses but not Damask roses, peculiar only to Jabal Akhdar mountain slopes.

Take a walk through the local villages into the orchards and rose plantings.

It will be out-of-the-world feelings!

The Damask roses are extracted to make Omani rose water for fragrance, cooking and sometimes for medicinal purposes.

Your walk will not be like the daily morning walks if you can explore further. It will take you to Alila Jabal Akhdar’s Butterfly Trail where guides are freely available. You will widen your knowledge when they open up about the mountain and the peaceful citizens in the area. More awaits you like watching fossils, chasing butterflies and birds.
