MUSCAT : Jabal Al-Kour is one of the well-known mountain peaks in the western part of the Hajar Mountain Range, between Jabal Mushatt, Jabal Shams, and the Red Shield Mountains, and is a popular destination for mountaineers. The height of Jabal Al-Kour is 2713 meters above sea level, and houses villages distributed administratively over the Wilayat of Bahla in the Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate and the Wilayat of Ibri in the Al-Dhahirah Governorate.

Jabal Al-Kour is rich in history and takes you on a journey through time as you visit ancient villages, towers, and fortified castles on the top of the mountain, which stand as an example of the strength and ingenuity of our ancestors in urbanization. Some parts of the mountain contain inscriptions, images, and writings, a few in probably oriental languages, and a few inscriptions in the Arabic language, that narrate the ancient past of this majestic mountain.

A visit to Jabal Al-Kour represents a journey in the horizon of ancient history, the diversity of geography and the vastness of nature, where the mountain stands tall and tells the story of human creativity in harnessing simple ingredients and resources for stability and housing and carrying out economic activities such as cultivation and breeding of livestock in a way that reflects the determination and perseverance of the people of this lofty mountain over generations, and the strength of their will, forming a continuous story from one generation to the next.
