Restaurants in Oman delaying tourism fees will be slapped with hefty fine, says Ministry

According to the ruling, restaurants and cafes will be fined OMR 1,000 in case of delay in transferring the tourism fees.

Muscat: Restaurants and cafes that comes under the Ministry of Tourism will have to pay four per cent of the total price paid by the customer as tourism fees, according to a decision issued by the Minister of Tourism. 

According to the ruling, restaurants and cafes will be fined OMR 1,000 in case of delay in transferring the tourism fees. 

The Minister also directed to transfer the fees on a quarterly basis with a detailed statement showing the total value of revenue. 

“The Minister of Tourism has issued a decision 56/2019 amending certain provisions of the executive regulations of the Tourism Law promulgated by Royal Decree 33/2002 and the Ministerial Decree 39/2016. This decision decree shall be published in the official gazette and shall come into force from the day following its publication, while Article 49 shall be effective after 90 days from the date of enforcement of this resolution,” the statement from the Ministry of Tourism added.
