Muscat: After a lengthy hiatus, the Malayalam cinema industry has returned with one of the best action thrillers, RDX, which stands for Robert, Donny, and Xavier, the three primary protagonists in the movie.

The movie is set in Fort Kochi, where a group of thugs arrive at a traditional festival in a church with a plan to murder a politician. But when Donny gets involved in the brawl, one of the thugs’ egos takes over and the fight degenerates.

Following Donny and his family, the thugs attack them with such severity that it becomes clear that their motives were different and that the incident had occurred a few years before.

Two brothers, Donny and Robert, as well as their close friend Xavier, were raised mastering the martial art of karate. Donny has mastered the art of Boxing, Xavier nunchucks and Robert in karate. They come together to give the most promising sequence of action.

Off late Malayalam film has not given such a thrilling action film that is pleasant and interesting.

This film is based on three angry young men, who put up random fights because their ego catches on fire, but their actions are the outcome for their love for their romance, family, friendship and anything just.It is a talent that presents a disciplined fight, a battle between a hideous fight and a disciplined fight, and it teaches people that having physical power is an asset that should only be applied in a specific way in daily life, the phrase that Babu Antony, who counsels it repeatedly throughout the film, uses.

Talking about the casting, they  are on point!

Shane Nigam has once again demonstrated his abilities, his first step to the title of next best actor or the next method actor. Shane’s character is of a solid irate young man from the heart of kochi who also has a tender spot for romance. Normally it can take a character some time to detach from that skin when they switch from one extreme emotion to another, but to Shane it seemed more effortless.

From his debut (Angamali Diaries) through RDX in particular, Antony Varghese has produced significant work. His tender boy-cum-tough man role will melt your heart and make you marvel how versatile he can be in only one movie.

And last but not the least, this is one of the best breaks that Neeraj Madhavan could get, he was only known to get a small screen space for popular films or a monotonous long space for a poorly written script, leaving the audience thinking his talent could get compartmentalised to that impression. Just up until a genuine consideration proved it wrong.

He portrayed the character of a legitimate martial arts master, a son of a master martial artist and on top of that a true friend. The amalgamation of these three characters will pierce through the emotion of all the moviegoers, crediting the silent demand for a standing ovation to its makers.

Then never to forget, one of the big reasons not to miss this film is the tremendous villainism played by the antagonists Vishnu Agasthya, Sandeep, Siraj etc..will keep you glued to your seat as you ponder how much heavy-handed sadism one could possess.

Surprisingly, this time Babu Antony has delivered a masterful performance, tracking back to the disappointment he gave in Kayamkulam Kochunni by undermining the  audience’s high expectations with a ridiculous stunt advice he passed down to Kochunni that made the audience go boo, this time he kept a low profile finally yielding worthy outcome. Alongside there are Lal, Nishant Sagar, Mahima Nambiar, Aima Rosmy Sebastian, Maala Parvathi and Baiju fitting well as supporting roles.

The editing speaks for the timeframe of the movie itself, and along with the total charm of the kochi lingo, they also showed time without overtly stating it. The colour grading and costumes are constant.

RDX has proved that a great talent and well visioned script has immense potential for fantastic recognition, as there are no superstars entertained for the screen space nor even as a cameo role.

The plot of the film is simple, nonetheless it is loosely based on events and characters that are happening in kochi.

Films like BigB and Bheeshma Parvam endorsed the nature of the place, that violence is not a new subject when it’s Fort Kochi that is mentioned, but what sets this film apart is the action sequence, Stunt directors Anbariv of KGF fame are behind the action choreography and a special credit to  Sam C. S the music composer for giving the viewers the best background score that is complementing well with the thugness they meant to implement.
