MUSCAT : H.E. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Economy, in a statement to the local news agency, highlighted the targeted plans to roll out the single Gulf tourist visa within the next two years.
He pointed out that the seventh meeting of GCC tourism ministers in Oman had unanimously endorsed its roll-out, to be presented at the upcoming GCC summit. He also explained that specific regulations and legislation for the visa will be developed for the expected roll-out between the years 2024 and 2025. However, this will be subject to the readiness of each GCC country’s internal systems.
He further stressed that the unified visa initiative is an integral part of the GCC 2030 tourism strategy, and that it is aimed at increasing the sector’s contribution to the economy through increased inter-GCC travel and higher hotel occupancy rates. It is also designed to simplify travel within the region and boost tourism across all the Gulf countries.
