Oman’s CDAA prepares for Tropical Storm

CDAA said all its departments are on high alert to deal with the “effects that result from the situation”.

SALALAH: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) has announced its readiness to deal with the tropical storm Tej that is expected to make landfall in Dhofar Governorate and Al Wusta on Sunday.

In a statement issued, CDAA said all its departments are on high alert to deal with the “effects that result from the situation”.

Lieutenant Colonel Engineer Mohammed bin Hamoud Al Mahmoudi, Assistant Director General of Operations and Training at CDAA, said it has increased manpower and vehicles designated for search and rescue operations. “We have also deployed
boats, jet skis, and a lot of equipment and supplies, in addition to the deployment of 5 advanced points in the Dhofar Governorate and three points in the Al Wusta Governorate to ensure that rescue teams reach the areas expected to be affected,” Al Mahmoudi said.

‎He pointed out that the Search and Rescue Sector and the Hazardous Materials Handling Sector, whose management is responsible are constantly following up on developments in the situation in coordination with other agencies.

He also urged the need for citizens and residents to adhere to the instructions issued by the concerned authorities in order to preserve the safety of lives and property.
