First edition of Haute Route Oman set to begin in Oman

MUSCAT: 265 road cyclists from 26 countries will take part in the first edition of Haute Route Oman starting on Friday, 1 March.  

The three-day event will take riders on a 238km route centred on Oman’s dramatic and scenic Al Hajar Mountain range with a challenging climn up the Jebel Akhdhar.

Formula One World Champion Jenson Button will lead the group in the first ever race to be held in Middle East.  Speaking about the event, Button said: “I can’t wait to take part in Haute Route Oman on what will be my second visit to the country, and I am thrilled to be returning to ride what looks like a challenging but stunning course.”

According to the organisers, cyclists from United Kingdom, China, Singapore, US, Australia and Oman are taking part for the race.
