Oman police nab smugglers with over 75kgs of illegal drugs

Muscat: “The Coast Guard Police in the South Al Batinah Governorate seized a boat carrying three smugglers of Asian nationalities while they were trying to enter the country illegally,” stated the ROP notice.

The smugglers were carrying crystal meth and hashish, and legal procedures have been completed against them.

Mwasalat announces resumption of suspended services

Muscat: In a statement issued online, Mawasalat stated that the services would be resumed gradually, starting from Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, as follows:

Buses Service: – All city bus routes (Salalah); Route 100 (Muscat – Haima – Salalah) and Route 102 (Muscat – Marmul – Salalah).

Chances of thunderstorm over several parts of Oman

Muscat – According to the Oman Meteorology forecast, “cumulus cloud activity is expected over the Hajar Mountains and adjacent areas today (Wednesday) with chances of rain of varying intensity, thunderstorms at times, accompanied by active descending winds, hail, and flow of valleys and reefs during the afternoon and evening periods.”

The weather forecast includes rainfalls ranging between 20-80 mm, downdraft wind (15-40 knots), poor horizontal visibility due to dust rising during thundershowers and flash floods in wadis.
The Met office urges everyone to move away from low places and wadis, and not to attempt swimming in wadis.

Oman’s CPA seizes unlicensed products from a commercial establishment

Muscat: The seized products included items without proper licenses, prohibited goods, and products lacking essential health and safety information.

The CPA explained that the seizure follows the field visits conducted by its law enforcement officers in the governorate’s markets to ensure that commercial establishments were in compliance with the Consumer Protection Law, its executive regulations, and relevant decisions.

The prohibited items were confiscated to ensure they do not re-enter the market.

The CPA reaffirms its commitment to diligently monitor the markets, ensuring the protection of consumers’ health, safety, and rights. It pledges to take legal actions against those who defy these regulations and encourages consumers to report any violations they may come across in the markets, through its various communication channels.

National Museum officially joins UNWTO

MUSCAT : The National Museum announced its official joining to the United Nation’s World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as an affiliate member.

This was announced during the 25th session of the UNWTO general assembly which was held in Uzbekistan.

Accordingly, the National Museum is the first museum in the Sultanate of Oman to become an affiliate member in the UNWTO.

Jamal Hassan Al Moosawi, Secretary General of the National Museum said that the museum’s joining of UNWTO reflects the museum’s commitments to enhancing cultural exchange. It also embodies the museum’s efforts to enhance sustainability in the tourism sector.

Oman weather : Schools to remain closed in some wilayats of Dhofar Governorate
