Indian air force jets carried out air strikes on militant camps inside Pakistan on Tuesday, a government minister said. We bring you Live updates on the development.

9:15am: Indian air force jets carried out air strikes on militant camps inside Pakistan on Tuesday, a government minister said, the first Indian comment on the raids.

9:35am: Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale to brief the media at 11:30am (Indian time) today.

10:00am: As per sources, the strike, carried out by 12 of the IAF’s Mirage 2000 fighters, lasted up to 21 minutes, and was carried out at three locations:

The strike at Balakot, which is 24 kilometres northwest of Muzaffarabad, took place between 3:45 am and 3:53 am.

The locations hit in this strike were joint training camps of the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.The strike at Muzaffarabad took place between 3:48 am and 3:55 am

The strike at Chakoti took place between 3:58 am and 4:04 am
Indian media claims.

10:05am: Indian media claims at 11.40am(Indian Time)
As per sources, it was the Indian Air Force’s Mirage-2000 fighter jets, 12 in number, that participated in the operation.
The operation involved dropping 1000kg payloads on terror camps
Alpha 3 control rooms of the Jaish-e-Mohammed were also destroyed in the operation
The strike involved a low-fly run by the Indian Air Force’s fighters.

Sources also say that Pakistani F16s were scrambled to retaliate against IAF Mirage 2000s but turned back due to size of Indian formation. Western Air Command coordinated operation.
Indian Air Force has put on high alert all air defence systems along the international border and LoC to respond to any possible action by Pakistan Air Force.

10:19am:  Vijay Gokhale: Large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commanders were eliminated in largest JeM camp in Balakot. Camp was led by Maulana Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ghauri, brother in law of JeM Chief Masood Azhar
