Kochi: South Indian superstar Nivin Pauly is excited after the announcement that his movie Moothon will be premiered at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival next month.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the movie will also open at the 21st edition of the Mumbai Film festival (MAMI).

Speaking exclusively to The Arabian Stories, the young actor said this: “It’s indeed a big step for Malayalam cinema. I always wanted take our Malayalam films to a wider audience and I am glad it’s done through Moothon.”

Scripted and directed by Geetu and filmed by renowned cinematographer-director Rajeev Ravi, Moothon also had Anurag Kashyap working on the Hindi dialogues.

Kashyap is also one of the producers of the film.

A major portion of the film was shot in Mumbai and the picturesque islands of Lakshadweep as the story “revolves around a child’s search for his elder brother who left the island.

“I am so proud to have worked with some of the best technicians in India today and of course one among the best filmmaker we have — Geetu Mohandas. Even the cast I worked with in Moothon were extremely gifted,” he noted.

“As an actor it was truly a learning experience for me. I am looking forward to see it doing well at the box-office too. This is a movie that needs to be watched and discussed and I am happy to see it going international,” he added.
