Virgil Abloh was the first person of African descent to head Louis Vuitton’s menswear ready-to-wear line as the artistic director, and one of the few black designers to have been in charge of a significant French fashion house.  

Described as a path-blazing designer, he created several fashion masterpieces before death took him away in 2021. Here are 5 of Virgil Abloh’s classic creations that captivated the fashion world at a certain time. 

The Industrial Belt 

This is the ground-breaking cult label of Virgil Abloh. This odd belt, which was designed after an industrial strength strap, features a buckle that is adjustable, the firm name in the middle, and a vibrant neon colour scheme.

New Delhi : Ace designer Tarun Tahiliani, famously known as the King of Drapes in the world of fashion, brought his A-game to the Lakme Fashion Week 2023 runway on Wednesday night.

He showcased a collection centered around the theme of “a celebration of self-expression”. Meticulously crafted in an array of art styles like Art Deco, Gara, Byzantine and more for cocktail nights, galas, and red-carpet soirees, he essayed a renewed narrative for self-discovery from dusk to dawn.

Models walked down the ramp wearing his ensembles in form lehengas, drape sarees, gowns, kurtas, jumpsuits, shararas and whatnot.

For his latest show, he chose to make outfits in rich hues like iridescent rose golds, faded metallics, peacock teals, royal indigo, matte greys and blacks. Each ensemble had an Indo-western touch, giving a new narrative for Indian festive dressing.

New Delhi: Actor Karisma Kapoor left the audience spellbound as she walked the ramp for Reliance Jewels’ special festive collection ‘Swarn Banga’, on Saturday.

The collection showcased the heritage and culture of Bengal.

Karisma walked the ramp wearing a beautiful sari and a stunning neckpiece.

Raving about the collection, she told ANI, “It (‘Swarn Banga’) is inspired by the rich heritage and culture of Bengal. We are going to witness some of these beautiful designs during the festive session of ‘Swarn Banga’. I am wearing a masterpiece in intricate jewellery design but this collection has something for everyone, which is important. I would like to convey my advanced greetings for the upcoming festive season.”

She added that the collection has designs for every occasion and gives buyers a wide range to choose from.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Sonam was recently seen in the film ‘Blind’ directed by Shome Makhija and also starring Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillete Dubey in prominent roles.

The film marked Sonam’s return to acting after a maternity break.

Sonam has signed two new projects.

The actor said recently, “I took two years off as I was pregnant and then wanted to take some time off with my son. Two years are not done yet and I have signed onto two projects – one show and one film that I will start working on. It will release in another year, because that is how films work. Then my idea is to do two pieces of content every year, that’s it, not more because I want to spend time with my family as well.”

Mumbai : Former Miss World and Bollywood actress Manushi Chhillar is all set to make her debut at London Fashion Week 2023.

She will be walking the runway in creations by renowned designer Rocky Star.
Excited about her debut at the London Fashion Week, Chhillar said, “I am thrilled about my debut at London Fashion Week 2023. It’s a chance to proudly represent India and its remarkable fashion heritage on a global platform.”

After making her Bollywood debut with ‘Prithviraj’, Manushi Chillar, who was crowned Miss World in 2017 is now busy working on her new film titled ‘Tehran’, which also stars John Abraham.
She will also be seen in ‘The Great Indian Family’.
Helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film stars Vicky Kaushal and Manushi in lead roles and is all set to hit the theatres on September 22.

Chhillar will also be seen with Varun Tej in ‘Operation Valentine’.
The film will be out in cinemas on December 8, 2023.

Releasing in Hindi and Telugu, ‘Operation Valentine’ marks the Hindi film debut of Varun Tej, introducing him as an Indian Air Force pilot. Manushi will be seen in the role of a radar officer.
According to a statement from the makers, the film is inspired by true events. 
‘Operation Valentine’ is produced by Sony Pictures International Productions and Sandeep Mudda from Renaissance Pictures and co-produced by Nandakumar Abbineni and God Bless Entertainment.
Shakti Pratap Singh Hada, a seasoned ad-film maker, cinematographer, and VFX aficionado will be making his directorial debut with this film.

MUSCAT: The uniform of airline cabin crew staff holds a special position in the annals of fashion. 

The passenger-service and safety staff who work for airlines—often referred to as flight attendants—have worn costumes made to denote a certain job in the workplace, portray the identity of their business, and reflect current trends for more than 85 years. 

These frequently at odds demands for singularity, diversity, and uniformity have given rise to a unique category of clothing that has greatly influenced popular culture’s social consciousness while posing incredible problems and opening up new creative possibilities for fashion designers.

When creating uniforms for the air staff, fashion designers can turn aisles into runways as well. Airlines have long collaborated with fashion designers. In addition to many more, notable examples include Emilio Pucci and Roy Halston (Braniff Airlines), Oleg Cassini (TWA), Coco Chanel and Pierre Cardin (Olympic Airways), Christian Dior and Cristóbal Balenciaga (Air France), and Yves Saint Laurent (Qantas).

In June 2019, Oman Air launched a new uniform for its cabin crew. The design of the outfit and accessories was inspired by the “Sultanate of Oman’s rich colours, culture, history and heritage” and retained its recognisable turquoise hues, drawing inspiration from the Sea of Oman.

Whatever you want to call them—stewardesses, air hostesses, flight attendants, or cabin crew—the work they do can be tiresome and difficult in addition to the synchronised onboard choreographies.

Flight attendants work around fifty hours on the ground each month preparing for flights in addition to seventy-five to one hundred hours in the air every month. Although they have performed the roles of medic and courteous host, cabin crew members are professionals who are great assets for airlines. They keep passengers safe while pacing the aisle in outfits that help us comprehend the zeitgeist. 

Especially when companies like SpaceX, Virgin Galactic, and Blue Origin will undoubtedly turn to fashion designers to add a little flair or elegance to future spacesuits given Elon Musk’s interplanetary goals and the growth of space tourism. The sky is no longer the limit in terms of aviation and fashion – True that!
